Benefits of a Dental Membership Plan for Uninsured Patients
October 2, 2026 9:00 amLosing dental insurance can change the way you look at an appointment you used to schedule without much thought. A cleaning turns into a cleaning plus an exam, maybe X-rays, and suddenly you are doing the math before you ever make the appointment. If a filling or crown comes up later in the year, that is another expense to work around.
At Alma Dental Care in Petaluma, we offer an in-house membership plan for patients who do not have traditional dental insurance. It gives you a way to build routine care into the year and save on additional treatment here in our office. Instead of wondering what every visit will cost on its own, you can see what is included before the year gets rolling.
How the Alma Membership Plan Works
Our membership runs for 12 months from the day you join, so you do not have to wait for January or line everything up with a calendar year. Your benefits start right away, which means you can use the plan as soon as you enroll. If you are already overdue for a cleaning, you can go ahead and get that appointment on the calendar.
There is no deductible, annual maximum, waiting period, or preapproval requirement. You pay the membership fee, use the services included in your plan, and receive 10% savings on additional treatment completed here at Alma Dental Care. It is a much simpler setup than trying to keep track of what an insurance plan may or may not cover.
If more than one person in your household is joining, family members receive 5% off their subscription. That can help when you are planning dental care for several people at once. We can show you the different plan options and what each person would receive before you sign up.
Your Cleanings Are Already Built Into the Year
Without insurance, routine visits can be easy to keep pushing back. You know you are due, but nothing hurts, the month is already expensive, and another few weeks seems harmless. Then a few weeks turns into a few months, and the cleaning keeps sliding down the list.
Our Adult Complete plan includes two professional cleanings, two regular exams, routine X-rays, oral cancer screenings, and one emergency exam during the membership year. The Child Complete plan includes two cleanings, two regular exams, routine X-rays, one fluoride treatment, and one emergency exam. Those visits are already part of the membership.
You can put them on the calendar around work, school, travel, and the rest of life. The cost of those included visits is already accounted for.
The Plan Can Help With Treatment Too
Routine care may be most of what you need in a year, but teeth do not always follow the schedule. A filling can chip, a crown can loosen, or we may find a cavity on an X-ray that was not there at your last visit. When that happens, your membership still gives you 10% savings on treatment completed here.
That discount can help with fillings, crowns, and other restorative care. Before treatment begins, we can show you the estimate with your membership savings already included. You will know what the remaining cost looks like before deciding how you want to move forward.
We also offer financing options if a larger treatment is easier to spread out over time. That can help when a tooth needs care now but the full cost is harder to fit into one month. We can review those options with you before anything is scheduled.
There Is a Separate Plan for Periodontal Maintenance
If you have a history of periodontal disease, your cleaning schedule may look different from someone who comes in twice a year. Periodontal maintenance is often recommended more frequently after active gum treatment because those visits help manage bacteria and inflammation over time. That is why we offer a separate membership for patients who need that schedule.
Our Perio membership includes three periodontal maintenance visits or professional cleanings, three regular exams, oral cancer screenings, routine X-rays, and one emergency exam during the 12-month membership. Those extra visits line up better with the way many periodontal patients are already coming into the office. It keeps the plan connected to the care you are actually receiving.
We can look at where you are in your periodontal care and explain which option fits your current schedule. If you are still in active treatment, we can also explain how that differs from maintenance later on. You will know what is included and what would be billed separately before you enroll.
An Emergency Exam Is Included
Dental problems can show up at the worst possible time. A crown loosens at dinner, a tooth starts aching over the weekend, or one side suddenly hurts every time you bite. When you do not have insurance, even the cost of that first exam can make you hesitate.
Every Alma membership includes one emergency exam with Dr. Serrano during the membership year. If something comes up, that visit is already included. Once we have had a chance to look at the tooth, we can explain what is going on and what treatment may cost with your member savings applied.
We can see the tooth, take any needed X-rays, and figure out what kind of treatment makes sense. From there, we can go over the options and the estimate with you.
You Can See the Numbers Up Front
Dental insurance can come with premiums, deductibles, annual maximums, waiting periods, and coverage percentages that are hard to keep straight. Our membership is easier to follow because the annual fee and included services are listed ahead of time. You know what you are paying for before you enroll.
Right now, Child Complete is $425 per year, Adult Complete is $495 per year, and the Perio plan is $650 per year. Each option includes the preventive services listed for that plan, plus 10% savings on additional treatment completed here. Family members added to a membership also receive 5% off their subscription.
You can compare the annual membership fee with what you would otherwise spend on the included exams, cleanings, X-rays, and other preventive services one visit at a time. If you already know you need a filling, crown, or another procedure, we can also show you what the 10% member savings would do to that estimate. You can see those numbers before deciding whether you want to enroll.
Membership Can Help During an Insurance Gap
Some patients know they will be without dental insurance for quite a while. Others are between jobs, self-employed, retired, waiting for new benefits to begin, or covering a family member who does not have dental coverage right now. A membership can give you another way to keep up with care during that stretch.
Because our membership lasts 12 months from the date you enroll, you can start whenever the gap begins. If you join in October, your membership continues into the following October instead of ending at the end of the calendar year. That works well when an insurance change happens in the middle of the year.
If your insurance situation changes later, we can go over what that means for your membership and future care. We also work with PPO dental plans as an out-of-network provider and submit claims on behalf of our patients. That gives you some flexibility if your coverage changes before the membership year is over.
